  Chapter 1

The chapter starts by informing the reader that Ronald Adair was killed (Doyle). The chapter then says that it happened between ten and eleven thirty. It also states what year this chapter took place in, which was March thirtieth in eighteen twenty-four. 

I thought the story was very interesting and mysterious.
